About

Ancient Memories Belly Dance has been in the making for many lifetimes and many centuries. Memories created in Asia, South America, Europe and here in North America. Memories passed from one individual to another; whether by intentional or observed instruction, these memories were never lost only forgotten.

Over a decade ago, one woman was at a cross-road. Events in her life were changing and presenting new doorways. American Tribal Style belly dance was offered in her town. A seemingly grounded style of belly dance. She did not know anything about middle-eastern dance but was intrigued by the way these dancers moved in sync with each other. She wanted to be a part of that.

At first, she was in constant battle with her Self. One wanted to move in one way, the other wanted to move in another way. After learning patience with her Self, she felt at ease with the movements. This new language was beginning to flow from her movements. American Tribal Style or Tribal Style belly dance made sense to her.

After many classes, workshops and much research to find a source of this genre of her passion, she found the Suhaila Salimpour School of Belly Dance (SSSBD), Danse Orientale and another path of her journey.

Shannan Rose is currently a member of the SSSBD certification program. She is Level 1 Suhaila Salimpour format and Level2 Jamila Salimpour format certified.
